Milk peda also known as milk powder barfi is an Indian and Pakistani Sweet which is made with milk powder. It takes very less time to make this sweet but it tastes absolutely delicious. It is made with simple ingredients that are easily available at your home.

Ingredients:

  • Oil or ghee 1/3 cup or 5-5tbsp
  • Milk 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 1/3 cup
  • Milk powder 2 cups

Method:

Add 1/3 cup or 5-6 tbsp of Ghee or oil in a pan. Its is better to use Ghee it will give it a better taste. Then add 1/2 cup whole milk, 1/3 cup of granulated sugar and 2 cups of powdered milk. I used Nido powdered milk.

You can use any powdered milk but make sure it is not skimmed milk.

Ingredients for Milk Peda

Mix all the ingredients together and then cook it on low flame until it becomes like a dough. You will know when to stop cooking as soon as the mixture starts to leave the pan. Keep stirring in between the cooking otherwise the mixture can stick at the bottom of the pan and if you can, use a non stick pan that will be easier for you.

Now you have to Knead the dough you prepared for Milk Peda. Start kneading when it becomes a little cool and easy to handle. Do not knead when it is very hot you can burn yourself.

Once it becomes smooth make it flat like a roti but keep it a little thick. Cut it round or in any shape you like. You can use a cutter, any round lid or even a glass to cut them.

Tips:- Here are some tips to perfect your Milk Peda

  • Use a non stick pan so it does not stick at the bottom.
  • Also keep the flame low while cooking otherwise it will burn.
  • You can add milk or oil if you think the mixture is a little thick while cooking.
  • Use whole milk powder, never use the skim milk powder the result will not be the same.
