Mongolian Chicken is a very flavourful dish. It is eaten with boiled and garlic rice. It is easy and super quick to make.

What is Mongolian Chicken?

Mongolian Chicken is dish in which chicken strips are coated with spices and cornstarch and is marinated for some time. Then it is cooked with a spicy and sweet sauce which makes the chicken juicy and flavourful.

Ingredients:

To Marinate Chicken :

  • Chicken breast 1
  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
  • Soya Sauce 1 tbsp
  • Corn Flour/starch 2 tbsp

For the Sauce:

  • Oil 3 tbsp
  • Garlic 3 cloves
  • Soya sauce 2 tbsp
  • Chilli sauce2 tbsp
  • Vinegar 1 tbsp
  • Black pepper 1 tbsp
  • Crushed red chilli 1 tbsp
  • Brown sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Water 2 cup
  • Cornflour 2 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds 2 tbsp
  • Green chilli 1
  • Capsicum 1/2
  • Green onions
  • Mushrooms (optional)
  • Salt as req

Method to Prepare Mongolian Chicken:

Step1 : Marinate Chicken

To marinate chicken, cut the chicken first into strips and marinate it with Soya Sauce, Salt, Black Pepper and Corn Starch.

Marinate it for at least 15 minutes or 1 hour.

Step 2 : Fry the Chicken

Add Oil in a pan and fry the chicken till it is light golden brown on medium flame. You can either shallow fry or deep fry both.

Step 3: Prepare the Sauce for Mongolian Chicken

  • To Prepare the sauce for the chicken You need to add a little bit of oil in the pan(use the same oil you used to fry the chicken) and fry 3 cloves of garlic till it is golden brown.
  • Once garlic is golden brown add in the Soy and chili sauce 2 tbsp each along with 1 tbsp of vinegar.
  • Then add a little bit of water to avoid the garlic and the sauces to burn.
  • Then add black pepper, crushed red chili and brown sugar to give it a spicy and sweet taste.
  • Now add green chilies and 1 and half cup of water.
  • Now add the corn flour slurry that we prepared earlier.
  • Then its time to add the chicken that you fried along with some vegetables. I added capsicum, green onions and mushrooms.You can add any according to your taste or skip the vegetables if you dont like any.
  • Check the Salt and adjust it according to your taste.
  • Once the slurry is thick you can turn off the flame and sprinkle some sesame seeds to make it look more good.
  • Serve it with boiled or garlic rice and enjoy:)
